Emogene (Johnson) Sowle, 84, of Kendallville died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005 in Kendallville.

Mrs. Sowle was born in Helmer on March 22, 1920, to George and Mary (Glasgow) Emrick. Her first husband, Edward Johnson, died in 1961, and her second husband, Avon Sowle, died in 1980.

She ran a service station and store in Helmer for 20 years. She moved to Kendallville 21 years ago.

Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Marie Botticelli of Montclair, N.J. and Mary Lou and John Hamman of Umatilla, Ore.; two sons and daughters-in-law, James E. and Sally Johnson of Cocoa, Fla. and Jerel Lee and Carol Johnson of San Antonio, Texas; a sister, Louise Burkett of Kendallville; eight grandchildren; and several great- and great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Johnson Funeral Home, Hudson, with the Rev. Craig Burkholder officiating. Calling will be today from 4 to 7 p.m.

Burial will be in Wright Cemetery, rural Hudson.

Memorials are to Parkview Hospice or Kendallville Manor Healthcare.
