William Earl Chambers was born Sept. 23, 1932 in Grapeland, TX to Emory & Annie Lou Chambers. William moved to the Fort Worth area (Birdville, which is now Haltom City) in 1942 where he worked on a dairy farm. He graduated from Birdville High School in 1949 and enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1950. After serving 4 years in the military, he joined the Dallas Police Department. In 1992 he retired from the department as a Lieutenant. He married Jean Ashcraft in 1957 and she passed away in 1978. In 1979, he married Dorothy Poole and she passed away in 2014. William was a member of New Liberty Baptist Church in Garland, TX. He is survived by his children, Cindy and Robert; 8 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Jean Ashcraft Chambers; second wife, Dorothy Poole Chambers; 2 brothers, 4 sisters and his grandson. Visitation will be 6pm-8pm Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at Williams Funeral Directors. Funeral service will be 10am Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at New Liberty Baptist Church in Garland. William will be buried with his late wife, Dorothy at 12:30pm Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at DFW National Cemetery. There will be a lunch for family and friends at New Liberty Baptist at 2:30pm on Wednesday after the service.
