Alberta R. Jones, 91, of Fairview, died Saturday (July 22, 2017) at her residence.
She was born Feb. 20, 1926, in Bobtown, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Pierce I. Tennant and Snoda Ellen Eddy Tennant.
She was a wonderful mother, dedicated wife and awesome friend. Most of her life was spent working on the Jones Dairy Farm in Fairview. She had a contract with the Monongalia County School Board transporting children for several years. She loved life, farming, gardening, her flowers and mowing her yard on her Bolens lawn tractor. Mrs. Jones attended the Pumpkin Center Church of Christ until her health would no longer permit her to go.
Surviving are two sons, Bill Jones of Morgantown and Jack Jones of Washington, Pennsylvania; two daughters, Sherry Maxwell of Kingmont and Penny Quickle of Fairview; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kyle Jones; four brothers, Leon Merl Tennant, Walter Hayes Tennant, Kyle Copeland and Willis Tennant; one sister, Isabelle Wilkinson; one son, David Jones; and a son-in-law, Roger Quickle.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Pam Carter and Ethel Watson for their help in caring for Alberta during her illness.
Friends may call the Owen-Neely Funeral Home in Blacksville from 6-8 p.m. today. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Evangelist Mark Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Shuman Cemetery near Fairview.
