Lottie Mabel Hobbs, daughter of John T and Ellen Hobbs, was born July 5, 1884, on their farm, 7 miles north of Solomon, and departed this life on February 17, 1943, at the age of 58 years. She grew to young womanhood in the community in which she was born.
She was united in marriage to Walter Laney, of the Talmage community , on March 21, 1906, and to this union were born four children, Ruby Irene and Glen H., and two infant daughters who preceded her in death. In 1928, the family moved from the Talmage community to the farm north of Solomon, where she resided until her death.
