OBITUARY.

THE REV. KENELM VAUGHAN.
With great regret we announce the death of Father Kenelm Vaughan, which took place after an illness of some weeks, at the House of Expiation he had founded at Anathoth, Hatfield, early on Wednesday morning. Father Kenelm was the third of the eight sons of the late Colonel John Vaughan, cf Courtfield, Herefordshire, by his first marriage with Eliza, daughter of Mr. John Rolls, of the Hendre, Monmouthshire. Born August 12, 1840, Father Kenelm was educated at St. Edmund's College, and continued his studies at the French seminary in Rome. He was ordained by his uncle, the Bishop of Plymouth, in 1865, and served the mission at Newton Abbot until 1870. At one time acting as private secretary to Cardinal Manning, he afterwards travelled for many years in South America, preaching and collecting funds first for the Brotherhood of Expiation, and afterwards for the Blessed Sacrament Chapel in Westminster Cathedral. For the latter he collected more than £.18,coo. In July, 1907, he opened the mission at Hatfield. All his life he was untiring in his efforts to popularise the use of the Holy Scriptures. It may be said or him that he lived in an atmosphere of the supernatural, and the thought of his holy and mortified life will remain as a blessed and a vivifying memory to all who knew him. A Requiem Low Mass will be said at the Catholic Church, St. Albans, at 10.30 on Saturday, and, by the direction of the Archbishop, a Solemn Requiem will be sung in Westminster Cathedral at a date yet to be fixed. R.I.P.
