Fourth of eight children, Marie grew up in the farmland of northern California and graduated from Orland High School. As the oldest daughter, she was responsible for helping her mother with her siblings. She learned to sew by making her sisters and brothers clothing. She and Robert Mann met at a Grange dance and were married in April, 1944. In 1949, they welcomed their first two children. On a snowy day in December, 1954, they moved into their one and only home in Brighton, where their third daughter was born. When they found out they were to have a fourth child, they decided to add a family room and an additional bedroom to the back of the house. All four children grew up in this house and graduated from Brighton High school. Marie was a stay at home mother until she went to work as a seamstress and counter clerk for Nu-Way dry cleaners. She worked there from 1976 to 2006. After retiring, she tended to her home and flowers. She particularly liked her roses and lilac bushes and took excellent care of them. In 2015, she moved to her home in Brookdale Assisted Living, where she was loved by all. Survivors included daughters Catherine (John) Winkelman, Donna (Jim)Landon, and Diane (Marvin) Knoch; grandchildren Teresa, Scott, Michelle, Melissa, Jason, Matthew and Michael; ten great grandchildren, two sisters, and a brother. Preceding were her daughter Robin Kay in 1963 plus a sister and three brothers. Mass of Christian Burial held August 23rd at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Tabor-Rice Funeral Home handled arrangements.
