MINERAL SPRINGS - Heaven's gates opened wide Sunday morning, May 2, 2010, and Jenny Bernyce Bridgeman was welcomed to her real home by Jesus, her Lord, by her husband of 50 years Thomas Bridgeman who died in February of 1995, and by her great and lifelong friend Abilene Norwood who died in August of 2009.

Bernyce, born November 28, 1922, was the only living child of William Jennings Bryan Williams and Simmie Beatrice Calhoun Williams. She was very proud of the fact that she was born in Schaal, Arkansas. Bernyce graduated from high school at the age of 16 and enrolled the next fall at Henderson State Teachers College. She did not complete her education there stating that when all the boys left for the war, she came home.

In November of 1944, Bernyce married Thomas Bridgeman. When Thomas returned from the war, he and Bernyce settled in Mineral Springs and lived in the way most important to them, serving others. After Thomas's death, Bernyce continued to live her life to the fullest. Rarely staying at home, she spent her days sharing her life, her gifts of encouragement, exhortation, and humor with those she loved, which was everyone. She has left us a powerful legacy of giving your life away. She knew and reminded us all that possessions and money were not what made a person rich, rather people and relationships, and she invested heavily in those things.

She is lovingly remembered and survived by her two daughters, {Name withheld for privacy} of Little Rock, Arkansas, and {Name withheld for privacy} of Austin, Texas; her grandchildren whom she loved dearly, and that love was greatly returned, {Names withheld for privacy}; she delighted in and was adored by her four great-grandchildren, {Names withheld for privacy}. Bernyce is also survived by two nieces, {Names withheld for privacy}, as well as a loving cousin, {Name withheld for privacy}) and their families; and the many friends whom she loved so well.

Per her wishes, on Wednesday, May 5, following a private burial, there will be a 2 p.m. memorial service at Central Baptist Church in Mineral Springs, Arkansas, followed by a party with her family and friends to celebrate and share the many stories of her life.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Central Baptist Church in Mineral Springs or Bethany Christian Services at 1100 North University, Ste. 66, Little Rock, Ark. 72207. You may send an online sympathy message at www.latimerfuneralhome.com.
