Alice McGuire was born in Hartlepool, daughter of Owen McGuire and Mary McGuire nee WIlson b. Ballysadare, Sligo (first married to Martin Conroy who died 1881). Alice's mother Mary died in 1888 and after 1891 she moved to Scotland, leaving 2 half-sisters and a half-brother in England, who probably never saw her again. Alice married Thomas Finnerty in Aidrie, Scotland in 1907 and her first 2 children were born in the Glasgow area, but by 1911 they were in Warrington. Daughter Mary (1908-1972) returned to Scotland where she married and had sons Richard and Basil. 4 children were born in Warrington: Son Thomas (1909-1944) was a garment cutter in Warrington, single and living in Warrington with family in 1929. He joined the RAF Reserve Volunteer at Padgate, Lancs sometime after April 1941. He flew two operations from Elsham Wolds, Lincs, in 576 Sqn as the rear gunner in the Kirk Crew. Son James 1911-1917, daughter Kathleen 1914-2000 school teacher and nursing auxillery (1939 register) single. Daugter Alice (1916-1942) single and incapaciated in 1939 liviing with her parents . Alice lived to the age of 97 in 1982. Her daughter Kathleen who remained in Warrington must have been very dear to her, having lost 4 of her 6 children by 1944, and her eldest daughter mary being in Scotland.
