Alice Finnerty nee McQuire was born 1884 Hartlepool, Co Durham, the daughter of Owen McGuire and Mary Conroy nee Wilson (1845-1888). Alice married Thomas Finnerty in Airdrie, Scotland in 1907 where she had her first 2 children, Mary (1907) and Thomas (1909-1944). 3 more children were born in Warrington, James 1911-1917, Kathleen 1914-2000, and Alice 1916-1942. Kathleen was a teacher and died in Warrington 2000. Her son Thomas died 20 Feb 1944 when the Lancaster he was in as an air gunner, was lost without trace. Mary married and lived in Scotland where she had a son Basil.

Alice McGuire was born in Hartlepool, daughter of Owen McGuire and Mary McGuire nee WIlson b. Ballysadare, Sligo (first married to Martin Conroy who died 1881). Alice's mother Mary died in 1888 and after 1891 she moved to Scotland, leaving 2 half-sisters and a half-brother in England, who probably never saw her again. Alice married Thomas Finnerty in Aidrie, Scotland in 1907 and her first 2 children were born in the Glasgow area, but by 1911 they were in Warrington. Daughter Mary (1908-1972) returned to Scotland where she married and had sons Richard and Basil. 4 children were born in Warrington: Son Thomas (1909-1944) was a garment cutter in Warrington, single and living in Warrington with family in 1929. He joined the RAF Reserve Volunteer at Padgate, Lancs sometime after April 1941. He flew two operations from Elsham Wolds, Lincs, in 576 Sqn as the rear gunner in the Kirk Crew. First operation Berlin 15 February 1944, second was to Liepzig on 19 February 1944 in Lancaster DV386 which was "lost without trace". He is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial. Son James 1911-1917, daughter Kathleen 1914-2000 school teacher and nursing auxillery (1939 register) single. Daugter Alice (1916-1942) single and incapaciated in 1939 liviing with her parents . Alice lived to the age of 97 in 1982. Her daughter Kathleen who remained in Warrington must have been very dear to her, having lost 4 of her 6 children by 1944, and her eldest daughter mary being in Scotland.
