Former Innkeeper Here Dies in East
William Lane, 77, for many years a resident of Bay city and a former hotel operator here, died today at the Elks National home in Bedford, Va., according to word received by local Elks lodge officials. He had been ill only a short time.
Born Dec. 22,1861, in Millington, Mich., Lane lived here a large part of his life. He operated a South End hotel which has been abandoned for several years. He joined the Elks lodge here in 1902 and was admitted to the home in 1932.
The body will be brought back to Bay city for burial. The funeral will be held at the Hyatt chapel. Further arrangements will be announced later.
