Bernice Maxine Tincher, 85, of Rustic Hill Drive, Princeton, died peacefully Sunday evening, February 21, 2010 at Princeton Community Hospital. Born March 14, 1924, in Princeton, she was the daughter of the late Edward Gaston Pennington and Minnie Elizabeth Scott Pennington. Bernice was a graduate of Princeton High School. She was an active member of New Hope United Methodist Church, a member of the Adult Sunday school class, the United Methodist Women, chairperson for the Bereavement Committee and had served on various committees throughout the church. Bernice was a member of the Silver Saints of the First Church of God in Princeton and Mercer County CEOS-New Hope Club. Bernice was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter # 53, Princeton. She was a member of the Mercer County Home Extension Club and had served as President on several occasions. A highlight in Bernice�s life came in 1987, when her quilt was named First Place winner in the Mercer County Quilt Show. Those who were fortunate to know and spend time with Bernice in her home, will always remember and cherish her smile, her hospitality and her sharing of her baked goods, especially her homemade breads, all to many to mention. Bernice was a kind, warm and loving person and always made you welcome in her home. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Max I. Tincher, her only child Wayne, who died at the very young age of seven and her siblings, Gretchen Jarrell, Josephine Clemson, Envah Hager, Edward Pennington, James C. Pennington, Chauncie T. Pennington and Janice Cordle. Bernice was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Friends may visit with the family today (Wednesday) from 5:00 until the service hour at the funeral home. A family gathering will be held on Thursday at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery in Princeton. Her nephews will serve as pallbearers.
