DOROTHY ANN NICOLOFF

Dorothy Ann (nee Thompson) Nicoloff, 88, of Palatine, IL and formerly of Valders, WI, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2013, surrounded by her loving family.
Dorothy was born on May 23, 1924, in Valders, WI. She was the daughter of the late Reuel and Esther (nee Harvey) Thompson. She attended local schools. After high school graduation, she worked at Great Lakes Naval Base in Illinois, where she met her husband of 27 years, Charles E. Nicoloff. Together they had four children, four grandchildren, and four great grandchldren. After marriage, Dorothy was a long-term employee at Bartlett Manufacturing Company in Cary, Illinois, serving them for 33 years.
Dorothy was a kind, faith-filled woman who always put others ahead of herself. Through the years, she enjoyed knitting and crafting of many kinds. She was also a dedicated football fan giving the nod to the Chicago Bears with the Packers a close second. Dorothy enjoyed nature and one of her favorite activities was an annual pilgrimage to northern Wisconsin each fall to enjoye nature’s beautiful display of colors. Most important to her was the love that she had and shared with her family.
Dorothy is survived by daughters, Diane Gregory, Marsha (Allen) Sherven; and sons, Steven and Craig Nicoloff; grandchildren, William (Missy) Best, April (Cary) Lehman, Kristen (Joshua) Stine and Michael Sherven; great-grandchildren, Brady and Savannah Best and Tyalor and Cole Lehman; siblings, Harvey (Alice) Thompson and Joyce Loritz. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Judy; and brothers-in-law, Larry Valleskey and Lester Loritz. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
A memorial visitation for Dorothy Ann Nicoloff will be held on Saturday, March 16, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 255 Roosevelt Street in Valders, WI, with Pastor Erica Cunningham officiating. Interment will take place in Our Saviors Lutheran Church Cemetery in Valders.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Faith Lutheran Church, Valders, WI, in memory of Dorothy.
