Reality Television Personality. He is best remembered for his recurring portrayals of his strong-willed and determined self-being on the syndicated sitcom "Ice Road Truckers". Born into a traditional working-class family, the son of a farmer and a housewife, he began his blue-collared career working on harvest rigs through his grandparents locally owned vendor company. After 30 years of working for various companies in his native Montana, upon the arrival of producer David McKillop who came to the area designated by the History Channel to begin a new documentary series, he was introduced to the director while attending a conference at his local mechanics office. Impressed by his dark good looks, mature appearance, and adrenaline junkie attitude, he signed him onto the cast and within hours of airings, he quickly grew to become a fan favorite. Aside from his strong will and determination, he also gained nobility for his big heart often assisting fellow truckers in need including those who fell into the category of rivals. During his career, he was an avid outdoorsman, had been a regular parishioner of the Catholic church, was a politically active conservative Republican, was also involved in giving back to his community, organized a food drive to help those affected by the 2016 flooding in Louisiana, was named the grand marshal for the Truck Convoy for the Special Olympics in Nova Scotia, Canada, was noted for his signature motto "Any Road, Any Load", had been a regular attendee at autograph conventions, had been the celebrity spokesman for Optima Tax Relief, was coined per People's Magazine as being "The Montana Legend", and he was married to Gwen Ward with whom he fathered two children (their union ended upon his death and produced two children, professional athlete Reno Ward and restaurant manager Terra Ward). On August 28, 2016, Ward died in a plane crash while travelling in a single-engine Cessna 182 Skylane with pilot fellow Mark Melotz while traveling from Missoula to Rock Creek.
