Elaine L. Gillette, 66, Carbondale, died Saturday at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore.
Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late Peter and Helen Fotia Gillette, Elaine was employed by NEIU 19 as an educator for more than 30 years. Passionate about teaching, she earned bachelor's and Master of Education degrees from Marywood University.
Surviving are a son, Richard Gillette, Florida; a daughter, Chardonnay McDonald, Carbondale; grandchildren, Michael Andrews, Keegan McDonald and Mason McDonald, Carbondale; a brother, Peter Gillette, Florida; a sister, Marie Gillette Speicher and husband, Charles, Crystal Lake; a sister-in-law, Shelly Hoyle Gillette, California; several nieces and nephews; and a dear friend, Judy Goffredo "Guff" Mozeleski.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Joseph Gillette; and a sister-in-law, Ann Gillette.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carbondale. The family will receive friends at the church from 8:30 until Mass time.
