Betty C. Bryant

Jackson

Mrs. Betty C. Bryant, daughter of the late Pinkney Edward and Annie Hunt Cunningham was born July 3, 1921 in Arkansas City, Arkansas. The 1927 flood moved them to Vicksburg, MS. She then left Vicksburg to attend Mississippi State College for Women and graduated in 1942. After that, she moved to New Orleans, Louisiana and worked for an Engineering firm. That's when paths crossed and stars collided when she met and soon married the late Henry Russell Bryant, Jr. from Edwards, Mississippi in 1942. The dynamic duo was greater than the sum of their parts. They dedicated their lives to their family, farm and living life to the fullest.

Betty was best known, happiest when she was riding her tractor or horse, carrying her shot gun and sweating blood on their land. There was no task too tall for Betty. She built and designed a farm house and home for her brother from the ground up. Tough and fierce on the exterior with warm and compassionate soul.

Betty served as the state officer the the Women's Society of Christian services, she was active member of Galloway United Methodist Church in Jackson, MS, and was heavily involved in the Ben Fatherly Sunday School Class, she was active in and officer of numerous bridge clubs including Causal Luncheon Club, Le Mercredi Club and Mecca; she sewed all the clothes for her family growing up and was an impeccable seamstress. Her warm, contagious, knee slapping laugh will be deeply missed from those who knew her.

She quietly and peacefully left this life Sunday in her home which she shared with her daughter and son and law. Her life will forever be cherished through her family and loved ones. Her daughter Carolyn Bryant Rowe, son in law Gaither Samuel Rowe III; Two grand daughters Robin Christian (Scott) of Natchez, MS; 2 great grand-children Madeleine and Will Christian (Lexi); Grand-daughter Renee Rowe McCormack (Jody) of Santa Rosa Beach, FL and two great grand-daughters Hazel Rae and Betty Olive.
