In 1842 Israel Meyer bequeathed to his son, Jonathan Myers, "Sheverstatt, which said Sheverstatt is a part of Tasker's Chance, a part of which has been more recently called Mount Airy and which said farm or Lot No. one...containing one hundred and one Acres and thirty perches of land more or less with the buildings, improvements and appurtenances thereinto belonging and which is a part of the same Farm on which I now reside." On 25 MAR 1843 Jonathan sold Sheverstatt to Christian Steiner. He sold other property to Catharine Brunner, 2 FEB 1843, and Joseph Butler, 30 OCT 1843.

He inherited property from his father's estate in 1842. Perhaps he went to Logan Co IL with his 2 younger brothers, Ezra and Leo. The records of Logan Co IL "'listed articles of agreement for building a mill at Rocky Ford on Salt Creek,' between Alexander Sample and Jesse Spencer, party of the first part and Jonathan Myers, party of the second part, and the same is dated May 26, 1845....Subsequently the mill was operated by Leo W. Myers, who sold it in 1851 to Edmund Rankin, from whom it received the name by which it has been known in later years." On 7 JUN 1845, after he was 21, Ezra purchased the property from a "Jonathan Myer."

There is a record of a John Myers having enlisted in the army from Illinois for the Mexican War on Jun 27, 1846. John Myers was a private in the 3rd Illinois Infantry, Company B. He died at Matamoras, Mexico on Nov 4, 1846. There was no John/Johnathan Myers/Meyers/Myres as head of household in Illinois in state or federal census indexes for 1810-1855.
