Born at Glen Rogers, July 16, 1877, he was a son of the late Franklin Pierce Brooks (1853-Deceased) and Emmanzetta Farmer-Brooks (1855-Deceased) (per WV Register of Births, Wyoming County, WV, 1877, Page 29, Line 12); brother of Christopher Brooks (1875-Deceased), Peter G. Brooks (1879-Deceased), Thurman Brooks (1879-Deceased), Ollie J. Brooks (1880-Deceased), Nancy J. Brooks (1882-Deceased), Clayton Brooks (1885-Deceased), Robert Lee Brooks (1888-Deceased), James L. Brooks (1892-Deceased), & John Dee Brooks (1894-1991). He was a retired saw mill worker.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah "Ellen" Brooks-Brooks (1880-Deceased) whom he married on September 27, 1898 in Wyoming County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, Wyoming County, WV, 1898, Page 305, Application Date: September 26, 1898); and his sons, Lonnie Franklin Brooks (1899-1958), Arthur H. Brooks (1904-1938), and Coy Clayton Brooks (1916-1939); and daughter, Glenna Fay Brooks-Tucker (1913–1964).
Survivors include two daughters, Pansy Brooks-Mankin (1908-1992) of Bolt, and Lila Mae Brooks (1910-2005) of Marianna; one son, Lida Lee Brooks (1902-1975) of St. Augustine, FL; and one foster son, Jimmy Workman of Nashville, TN.
Burial will be in Brooks Cemetery on Windon Road in Marianna.
