Edith LaRue White Stacey, 81, of Rutherford College, widow of George Stacey, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at College Pines Nursing Center, following a period of declining health.

LaRue was born on June 1, 1935 in McDowell County to the late Charles S. White and Georgia Bean White.

She was a member of Calvary Freewill Baptist Church and was a devoted homemaker and caregiver. LaRue was devoted to her family and many friends. She was a true vessel of grace and her selfless love radiated like a light, fueled by the Gospel. She will be deeply missed as we give thanks for every remembrance of her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Stacey, a sister, Naomi Jaynes and a grandson, Andrew Stacey.

Survivors include her daughter, Janie Lyon of Wilkesboro, two sons, Wayne Stacey and wife Paula of Wilkesboro and Charles Stacey and wife Regina of Rutherford College. Also surviving is a brother in-law, Jack Jaynes of Black Mountain, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 9, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service with Rev. Leonard Lindsey and Rev. Freddie Lindsey officiating.

Interment will follow at Cherry Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Old Fort.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Calvary Freewill Baptist Church, P.O. Box 375, Rutherford College, NC 28671.
