Alfred Brown, Sr. was the son of the late Esther and Charles Brown. Alfred came to New York at the age of 22, opened his own business in 1928, which he ran for 47 years. Husband of Maude to whom he married in 1922(who preceded him in death), father of Alfred, Jr, Ray and Lucille, brother of Catherine, Florence, Robert and Michael. Convenient store owner in Harlem and the numbers entrepreneur, father of Alfred, Ray and Lucille. Alfred was known in the community as "Daddy Brown". He always wore a shirt and tie. Daddy Brown was very independent, he cooked, cleaned and walked to the store for himself until his death. Daddy Brown as a young man would often make bank deposits for his boss, one day Daddy Brown said, if I can make bank deposits for someone else, why can't I save and make bank deposits with my own monies. Daddy Brown got himself his own business license and operated his own store and carried his own monies to the bank. Daddy Brown knew how to handle his monies. He leaves to mourn many grand and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and supportive neighbors.
