ROBERT HILLMER

Robert (Bob) Hillmer, 73, Sturgeon Bay, died peacefully at home with his wife Sandy by his side. Bob was born Oct. 19, 1937, in Juneau, Wis., to Alexander and Anna (Maas) Hillmer.

Bob and his family moved to Algoma, where Bob graduated from the Algoma High School. He entered the US Army and served as a Paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division. After his discharge he was asked to come back to the home farm and help due to the illness of his parents. While on the farm Bob delivered the Green Bay Press Gazette for 17 years. Bob retired after many years on the farm. He married Sandy Phillips in Valders on Feb. 22, 1983.
Bob enjoyed all the nature around his home and spent his time planting trees, gardening and collecting different types of rocks. Bob's faith with the Lord was very strong and knew the Lord would be there to take him home.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy; his two children, Licia and Michael; three stepsons, Ken, John and Dave; four grandchildren, Zach, Deja, Bailey and Peyton; and two step-grandchildren Aedan and Zander. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son Kim.

There will be a graveside service for Bob on Saturday, July 9, at 10 a.m. at the Grace Lutheran Cemetery in Valders off of Hwy 151 with Pastor Larry Zessin and Rev. Don Rose officiating.

The SCHINDERLE FUNERAL HOME, Algoma, assisted the family with arrangements.
