Emma Durnil died at 2:50 a.m. May 1, 1979 at age 95 years. She was born Emma Hertig January 28, 1884 at Wadena, Fayette County, Iowa. She was the only child of an emigrant family of 13 from Switzerland to be born in the United States and is the only survivor. The family moved to Oregon near Newberg where she attended school through 8th grade. The family then moved to Idaho and settled near Parma. There she met I. J. Durnil whom she married October 11, 1903 near Lemp, Idaho which is now Ten Davis where they farmed and she since resided. She is survived by her son, Ivan Durnil of Parma, a daughter, Neva Davis of Oakland, Calif., eight grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and twenty three great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband and a daughter.
