Estimable lady and old resident called away Saturday, March 3rd many friends.
A beautiful life ends but in death is what we can say of Mrs. Lydia Kirchhofer who passed away at her home Saturday at 4:30PM, just 19 weeks after the angel of death entered the house and took away the beloved husband and father. They were a most devoted couple and as in life, so in death.
Mrs. Kirchhofer was Miss Lydia Schmid, third daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Schmid. She was born in Scio Township June 6, 1843and at age 6 years moved to Ann Arbor with her parents where she attended school and spent her girlhood. On Oct 26, 1865 she married Henry Kirchhofer and spent the first six years of her married life in Chicago after which they came to Manchester. She was a women of kindness and love for all and her many little deeds in making other people happy will not be forgotten.
She was a member of Emanuel's Church, the ladies Aid Society and W.R.C.
The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at her home and was largely attended. The beautiful floral offering testified the love for the departed and the family. Rev. Wulfman spoke in English and German and the same songs sung at Mr. Kirchhofer's funeral were sung at hers.
Mrs. Kirchhofer is survived by 3 daughters Bertha and Marie at the village and Julia of Ann Arbor. Two sons, Hugo of Los Angeles, California, Henry of Detroit 4 grandchildren, one sister Mrs. Sophia Schmid of Ann Arbor.
