Hazel M. Deeter, 81
Millbury – Hazel M. (Bonzey) Deeter, 81, of 60 Grafton St. died yesterday in The Medical Center of Central Massachusetts – Hahnemann, Worcester, after an illness.
Her husband, John E. Deeter Sr., died in 1962. She leaves three sons, John E. Deeter Jr. of Millbury, Thomas F and James P. Deeter, both of Sutton; two daughters, Kathleen M. Deeter of Millbury and Margaret A. Salvas of Sutton; a sister, Helen G. Bonzey of Millbury; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Charles and Margaret A. Powers) Bonzey, and has lived here 47 years.
She graduated from Millbury High School in 1928 and Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing in 1932. Mrs. Deeter was a registered nurse for 32 years. She worked at Edgewood Nursing Home, Crescent Manor Rest Home and Keith Hill Nursing Home, all in Grafton. She then worked at the former Smith Nursing Home and Pine Grove Villa Nursing Home, retiring in 1985. Mrs. Deeter was a member of St. Brigid’s Church and the Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association.
The funeral will be held tomorrow from Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main Street, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Brigid’s Church, 59 Main Street. Burial will be in St. Brigid’s Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bosler Humane Society, P.O. 520, Barre, 01005.
