BLOOMINGTON - Gertrude F. Clay, 94, of Bloomington, passed away early Friday morning, October 26, 2012, at the Bloomington Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Bloomington January 8, 1918, to George and Minnie Goss Crohn.
Gertrude was a graduate of Bloomington High School, a member of Clear Creek Christian Church and a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW. Gertrude spent her working career with RCA, Sarkes Tarzian and also owned and operated a beauty shop along with her twin sister, Gretta Cox.
She leaves behind her son, Mark A. Clay and his wife Deborah of Bloomington; grandson, Travis Clay and his wife Jana of Bloomington; granddaughter, Jamie Isom and her husband Cody of Bedford; twin sister, Gretta Cox of Bloomington; and great-grandchildren, Baylee, Paris, Lillee and Briar Isom. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents; eight brothers, Frank, William, Enouch, Marcus, Gilbert, Glenn, Leon and Kenneth Crohn; and infant sister; and her husband, William Crohn, in 2003.
Funeral services for Gertrude will be Tuesday, October 30, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Allen Funeral Home, 4155 S. Old Highway 37. Rev. Glenn Hughes will preside. Gertrude will be laid to rest next to her husband William at Clear Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, October 29, 2012, from 4 until 8 p.m., also at Allen Funeral Home.
