Circumstance:
Officer Conklin, a motorman assigned to the Sixth Precinct, skidded on a street car track, throwing him 35 feet from his motorcycle. He was taken to Walter Reed Hospital by Officer Manners, also of the Sixth Precinct where he died soon after reaching the hospital.

This was only two blocks from where Officer Wessells was killed on April 23rd.

Officer Conklin was a native of Baltimore, formerly, a private in the United States Marine Corps, was survived by his wife Mildred L. Conklin of their home at 4510 South Dakota Avenue NE, Washington, DC. He was interred at Arlington National Cemetery.
