Joan H. Foster, age 89, of Woodstown, died Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at home surrounded with family.

She was born on July 2, 1927, in Salem, New Jersey, daughter of the late Lucius Hancock and Carolyn (Pedrick) Hancock.

Joan was a graduate of Salem High School. In her early life she worked at Princess's dress shop of Salem, DuPont's, and Spinosi's clothing store of Woodstown.

She was a devoted home maker, raising her children on their family farm, a 4-H leader, and animal lover. Joan enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, sharing stories of the past and many words of wisdom.

She is survived by her son, Edward H. Foster Jr., daughter, Marolyn (& Bill) Kilian, and son, David (& Lisa) Foster. Grandchildren, Patrick Foster, Wendy (& Eric) Baltz, Alison (& David) Prosperi, Anna (& Brian) Sheets, Dylan Foster, Thomas Foster, and Courtney Foster. She was the beloved Great-Mom-Mom to six great-grandchildren. Joan was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Edward H. Foster, and daughter-in-law, Mary Beth Foster.

Funeral services will be held in H.T. Layton Funeral Home, 102 South Main Street, Woodstown, NJ. A viewing will be held until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Lawnside Cemetery, Pilesgrove, NJ.
