Ensign Obadiah Sartwell was born in Groton, Mass. He married Rachel Parker and fathered 6 children. Sartwell was captured at Fort Number 4 during an attack on May 24th, 1746 and held captive by the Indians for more than a year. He served in Captain Steven's Militia Company. In 1749 during a sneak attack he was shot in the back by Indians and killed.
