John Benjamin Abernathy, Jr. (Doodle), 72, of Fayetteville passed away on September 27, 2016. He was born in Decatur, Georgia on August 14, 1944 to Benjamin and Doris Abernathy.

He was a self - made business man. John was a very big-hearted man that loved his family and children dearly. He was a proud member of Flat Creek Baptist Church where he was baptized.

John was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters Patsy, Sybil, and Brenda.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Delores Abernathy; sons Michael (Suzanne) Abernathy and Shannon (Jessica) Abernathy; daughter Keely Frantz; grandchildren, Johnathan (Grace) Meyers, Paul Frantz, Jr.; and his sister, Lois Knight (Wayne).

The funeral service will be held Friday, September 30, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with Pastor Jeff Smith officiating. The burial will follow at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at the funeral home.
