Mrs. Cooksey, 80, died Wednesday, September 6, 2000 at her residence. She had been a resident of Lake for the past six years, having lived in Lawrence over 30 years prior to that. She was a member of Hazel Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin D. Cooksey in 1994.
Survivors include one son: Pat Cooksey of Lake; and one brother John Lewis Hensley of Lake; three grandchildren: Brittany Cooksey, Mitchell Cooksey, and Nathan Hollingsworth.
Pallbearers were John Williams, John Gray, Dwight Brown, Clifton Kelly, David Hensley, John Dailey, James Shelley and Jackie Knight.
