Salomon Dominguez, 67, ascended into the gates of Heaven Sept. 29, 2016.
He was born May 22, 1949, in Manassa, Colo., to the Union of Juan and Carmelita Dominguez. He served his country for nine years in the United States Army, receiving several decorations and awards. He retired as an iron worker. He enjoyed the outdoors fishing, hunting, mining, spending time on his property "Los Brazos" in Chama. He enjoyed dancing and listening to Mexican music, sharing family stories and helping anyone in need. He was very free-spirited and believed in natural healing "Osha". Salomon had very strong faith, he always said, "God and family first, and then everything else will fall in place." Quality time with family was a priority, especially with Miguel, instilling in him the values of life. Salomon was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Antonio L. and Louisa Martinez; brothers-in-law, Freddie Flynn, Anthony, Billy, Steven, Andy and Lawrence Martinez. He is survived by his best friend, soulmate and loving wife of 44 years, Lavern Dominguez; his daughters, Renee Dominguez, Trini Dominguez and Frankie Lynn Tallent; his grandchildren, Miguel Salomon, Gabriel, Tia, Alyssa, Brandon and Vida; his siblings, Rebecca Flynn, Art Dominguez, Tommy Dominguez and Ruby Dominguez; in-laws, Della (Virgil) Scott, Pauline (Jose) Gonzales, Josie (Jake) Aragon, Edith (Pete) Rivera, Paul (Rachel) Martinez, Susan Martinez and Freddie Martinez; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends who loved Salomon as he makes his journey flying like an eagle, greeting everyone with "Orale" and a great big smile. Rosary, 10 a.m. Wednesday, with Mass to follow at 10:30 a.m. Both at St. Francis Xavier Church, 611 Logan Ave. Father Uju Okeahialam as celebrant. Military honor by Pueblo Veterans Ritual Team.
