A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016, at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Lyons Point for Ites “Black” Bertrand, 97, who died Monday, Oct. 3, 2016, at 7:23 a.m. at Southwind Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Crowley.
Fr. Richard Broussard, associate pastor of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, will officiate for the service. The family requests visiting hours Wednesday from 5 p.m.to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. A rosary will be recited Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Lyons Point.
Mr. Bertrand was survived by two daughters, Geraldine B. “Gerry” Wright and husband Earl of Lake Charles, Rachel B. Rizzuto and husband Robert of Gueydan; one son, Stacy Bertrand and wife Carlinna of Crowley; 15 grandchildren, 25 greatgrandchildren, 12 great great-grandchildren and 7 great great great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Atris Landry Bertrand; one daughter, Rebecca B. Waltrip; one brother, Downing Bertrand.
Pallbearers will be Chris Wright, Earl Wright, II, Beau Istre, Christian Bertrand, Jordan Bertrand and Stacy Bertrand.
