Her obituary was published in the Morning Start, Rockford, IL on Monday, May 19, 1975, on page 15, as follows: BOWLER-Miss Frances Bowler, 201 S. Rockton Ave., died Friday, May 16, 1975, in Rockford Memorial Hospital, after a long illness. Born Dec. 6, 1886, in Portage, Wis., daughter of John and Catherine Shaughnessy Bowler. Lived most of her life in Rockford. She was a retired employee of the Barber-Colman Co., where she was employed for more than 40 years.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Survivors include: three grand nephews, Tom, John and Bob Burke, all of Freeport; and a grand niece, Mrs. Dennis (Ann) Kuhse, rural Freeport. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, a sister, a niece and a nephew.
Services at 10 a.m. Monday, May 19, in St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery. No visitation. Arrangements by BURKE-TUBBS FUNERAL HOME, W. Galena and N. Walnut Avenues, Freeport."
The funeral home which took care of her burial was owned by her brother-in-law, Frances Eugene "Gene" Burke.
