July 20, 1942 - Sep 30, 2016
Arlie Howard, 74, of Boynton Beach, Fl and formerly of Delaware, Ohio passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2016 after complications from lung cancer.
Born in Kentucky, but later moved around the country and traveled the world, he never got away from his hillbilly handyman skills.
He was known for his phrase, "if you break it, I can fix it", and that was tested by many people over the years!
He was proud of his years of military service as an 82nd Airborne Army Ranger.
He worked in the automotive industry for many years and later discovered the developmental disabilities field.
As a family, the Howards coached Special Olympics and he later followed with a career in a factory setting for adults with special needs.
Arlie loved fishing, old cars, making people smile and laugh, and his family.
The joy and pride of his life was his 11 year old granddaughter Lilah.
He never met a stranger and everyone he crossed left with a friend.
He was greeted by many family members and loved ones who passed before him.
Survived by Mary, his wife of 53 years, Heather and Matt Hall, his daughter and son in law, and his granddaughter Lilah. Also, 5 siblings, in laws, and a host of other family and friends.
Services will be held in Florida on Wednesday, October 12 at 1:30 at the South Florida National Cemetery.
A celebration of life will be held in Delaware on Friday, October 14 from 6-9 at the Amvets. For the Friday service, please bring pictures, memories, old cars, and wear shirts of his memories like cars or fishing.
