Ray Redford.
Marine, Oct. 25. -- Ray Redford, a resident of this city, died at the Veterans' Hospital at Jefferson Barracks, Mo., at 8:45 p.m., Wednesday. He was taken ill suddenly on Oct. 12 and taken to St. Mary's Hospital in East St. Louis.
At his request, he was removed to the Veterans' Hospital three days later, where he had since been a patient. He had attained the age of 44 years, 10 months and 24 days.
Funeral services will be held at the Marine Evangelical Church on Sunday, at 2 p.m. Rev. A.C. Kuehn will officiate. Burial will be at the Marine Cemetery.
Mr. Redford was born in Alhambra township on Nov. 29, 1895, and grew to young manhood in that vicinity. On Dec. 29, 1917, he was united in marriage to Miss Dolly Middleton.
Four children were born to this union. Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Miss Mildred Redford of Marine, Mrs. Charles Willmann of Highland; two sons, Olin and Omar; his father, William Redford; a sister, Mrs. Clem Koehnemann of Highland; a brother, William Redford, of Detroit, Mich., and one grandchild.
He was a veteran of the World War and was a member of the Becker-Reding Post, No. 702, of the American Legion, of which he was a vice commander and membership chairman.

Rev. A.C. Kaehn had charge of the service. Members of the girls' choir sang "Come to the Christ" and "Abide With Me." The American Legion, Becker-Reding Post, No. 72, of which he was vice-commander and membership chairman, had charge of the service at the Marine cemetery. The following Legion members werved as pall bearers: Charles Zika, Arno Mebold, Otto Deibert, Otto Miller, Leroy Zimmerli and Ben Hess. Mr. Redford, son of William Redford and his wife, Carla, nee Franz, was born in Alhambra township on November 19, 1895, and grew to young manhood in that vicinity.
