Cornelia (Nellie) Rasta Tanase, age 86, of Fairfield, wife of the late Thomas P. Tanase, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, April 20, 2008. Born and raised in Woonsocket, RI, Mrs. Tanase had been a Fairfield Town resident for over 50 years. She had worked for the Levine Coat Factory of Bridgeport, where she was the leader in sales for 30 years, she also coordinated and modeled for fashion shows at various locations throught out the state. She later managed the Joe Berardi Boutique of Fairfield. Nellie was a lifelong member of St. Dimitrie Romanian Orthodox Church, she belonged to the Ladies Auxialiary as well as a past president. She was very active in her community in helping many families who were new to the United States start their lives here. A loving mother and grandmother, Nellie will be fondly remembered for her generous and charitable nature. She will be greatly missed. Survivors include her sons, Ron Tanase of New York City, Dennis Dean of Milford and Thomas Tanase of Fairfield. A sister Nora Stilu of Florida, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was pre-deceased by her sisters, Gennie Shola and Nikki Rasta and a brother Pompei Rasta. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11am in St. Nicholas Antiocan Church, Park Ave., Bridgeport with burial to follow in Lakeview Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Rd., Fairfield Center (Until our permanent Post Road driveway and signage is completed, please access our new facility through either the Brick Walk or Patriot Plaza driveways). The trisagion service will be held at 6 p.m. In lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Dimitrie Church Relocation Fund.
