WILLIS DIXON

QUAPAW, Okla. - Willis Graham Dixon, 76, died at 2:15 p.m. Thursday at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, Mo., after an illness.

Mr. Dixon was born Jan. 26, 1913, at Ottawa. He lived most of his life in Quapaw. Before retirement he worked 33 years for General Power Co., Quapaw, and 20 years for the Quapaw water department. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge, both in Quapaw, and the Scottish Rite Consistory at Gutherie. He served 40 years as first councilman of the Ottawa Indian Tribe.

Survivors include four sons, William A. Dixon, Kenneth E. Dixon and Willard E. Dixon, all of Quapaw, and Rex Dixon, Lawton; two daughters, Bessie Ransier, Pleasanton, Kan., and Shirley Boman, Goodman, Mo.; his stepmother, Bessie Buckmaster, Commerce; a brother, Charles Dawes, Quapaw; seven sisters, Cecil Burkybile, Juanita Kay, Romana Scott, Coweta Wrey, Oleta Ballard and Mendata Scott, all of Quapaw, and Lula Soper, Baxter Springs, Kan.; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
