History of Jackson County 1881: Samuel Chappell was born in England Mar 28, 1825, the son of Samuel & Mary (Sampson) Chappell. The family emigrated to the US in 1836 and located in Wyoming Co NY. He was married July 4 1849 to Harriet Morton born in Tompkins Co NY May 23 1832. They have five children: Alice C b Jan 23 1851, Edgar b Aug 20 1853, Eva b Apr 3 1855, Barry O b Jul 30 1862, Dora b Nov 9 1864. For three years after his marriage he lived in Washtenaw Co. In 1852, came to Jackson Co and in 1853 he settled in section 35.

Death certificate: Born England. Son of Samuel & Mary (Simpson) Chappell. Married. Farmer. Died from injuries from a fall.
