Aunt Mae was born to William Bland Wamsley and Goldie Gertrude Tomblin. She was born and raised on the Wamsley family homestead on Turkey Creek outside of Wamsely, aka "Wamsleyville," Ohio.
Mae's sisters were Birdie (m. Bill Riley); Sarah (m. John Osborn); Levia Jane (m. John Hawn); and Mary (m. Ollie Rudd).
Mae is buried next to her husband, Thomas Minor Workman, in the Evergreen Cemetery on Steam Furnace Road, three miles south of Peebles, in Adams County, Ohio. Her funeral was held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 24, 1995, at the Lafferty Funeral Home in West Union, Adams County, Ohio.
Aunt Mae liked to quilt and she loved to cook and bake. She loved dogs and cats, and had several dogs. She liked to take her sister, my grandmother, Birdie, shopping. In the spring, they would go up on Peach Mountain together and dig dirt for their flower beds. The gate to her house was always covered in flowers. She was (is) a beautiful soul.
