Gerard A. 'Pappy' Deller, 78, formerly of Dallastown, died Friday, June 27, 2003 at the York Hospital. He was the husband of Margaret (Henry) Emenheiser Deller for 11 years and the late Dorothy M. (Miller) Deller for 46 years who died February 8, 1990. Born June 16, 1925 in Dallastown, he was the son of the late George V. and Catherine (Grove) Deller. Mr. Deller was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Dallastown, where he was a member of the Pace Setters. He was a lifetime farmer in York County and retired from Duplex Products in 1991 after 26 years of service. Mr. Deller along with his first wife, Dorothy, founded the former York City and York Co. Deaf Children's Club and the York Area Hard Hearing Group. He received numerous awards for being an advocate for the hearing impaired. Mr. Deller's hobbies included raising dry flowers, participating in craft shows in the York area and gardening. Surviving along with his wife, are two sons and two daughters, Joyce Watson of Seven Valleys, Joan Thompson of Red Lion, Michael Deller of Dover, Rev. Henry G. Deller of Garden City Park, NY; eight step children, Elsie Emenheiser of Glen Burnie, Md., George Emenheiser of York, Benjamin Emenheiser of Felton, Doris Montoro of Dallastown, Helen Lichty of Clearfield, Pa., Mary Emenheiser of Baltimore, Md., Catherine Emery of Lancaster and David Emenheiser of Annapolis, Md.; 27 grandchildren; 22 greatgrandchildren; also three brothers and two sisters, Dean and Robert Deller, both of Dallastown, Clair Deller of York, Rita Shirker of Ephrata and Monica Bowman of Coudersport, Pa. He was preceded in death by three brothers, John Henry Deller, twin brother Gerald Deller and Leo Deller; one sister, Gloria Daugherty; one great-grandson, Deion Miller. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 1st at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 251 E. Main Street, Dallastown, with the Rev. Fr. Charles Persing as celebrant. Viewing will be Monday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, Inc., 104 W. Main St., Dallastown and Tuesday from 9 to 10 a.m., the time of Mass at the church. Burial will be in Dallastown Union Cemetery. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made at his memory to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 251 E. Main St., Dallastown, PA 17313.
