Anne Wood, the daughter of James and Margaret Sharon Wood, was born in Charleston, SC. She moved, with her family, to the Falls of the Ohio, along with their cousin, George Rogers Clark, and they settled Louisville, Kentucky, and Clark County, Indiana. She married Samuel Hay, a soldier pioneer who became Sheriff of Clark County, Indiana. They had at least five children before her death some time in late 1810 or early 1811.
