Dorothy Ann Vanous, daughter of Victor and Helen (Kasl) Havel, was born September 4, 1934 in Rose Creek Township near Munden, Kansas. She departed this earthly life on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Belleville, Kansas at the age of 82 years. She attended country school and graduated from Cuba High School with the Class of 1953. Dorothy was united in marriage to Dale Vanous on March 7, 1953 at Belleville, Kansas and to this union three children were born: Duane, Darwin, and Denise. Dorothy worked on the farm with Dale from the time they were married. She was involved in all aspects of their farming operations. She was an excellent cook and loved country music. After the kids left home, Dorothy went to work at Scott Specialties and worked for the next 20 years. After retirement, she and Dale enjoyed their daily rides to see the wildlife throughout the area. Due to failing health, Dorothy entered the Belleville Health Care Center in April of 2013. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; sister Marilyn Goppert; and brothers Earl “Gene” Havel, Clair “Short” Havel, and Victor Havel, Jr. She will be forever remembered by her husband of 63 years, Dale of their home; children Duane & Debbie Vanous, Belleville, Darwin Vanous, Murrietta, CA, and Denise & Toby Shriver, Kansas City, KS; grandchildren: Diana Frye and husband Tyler, Belleville, Desiree Vanous and fiancé Matthew Neff, Collyer, KS, Derek Vanous, Belleville, Lilly Shriver, Kansas City, KS, Jasmine Vanous-Trammell, Bostonia, CA, and Hunter Vanous, Fullerton, CA; step-grandchildren Chase Kemp, California and Jewell Painter, Murrietta, CA; and great grandson Trevin Frye; sister-in-law Gaye Hill, Lawrence, KS; several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
