Mrs. Sarah Snell, a pioneer resident of Henry county, passed away early Friday morning at the home of her son, O. A. Enell at Galesburg. She had not been very well all winter but was around. About 1 a. m. she called her son asking for a drink of water. Mr. Snell got the water for his mother, but when he came to her bed found she had died. Mrs. Snell was born in Indiana, June 28, 1836. She was married more than fifty years ago to Amos Snell. Four children were born to this union, two of whom have passed away. Mr. and Mrs. Snell lived on a farm the greater part of their life, but retired to Alpha about two years ago. Mr. Snell died about two years ago, while on a visit to their oldest son, the Rev. O. S. Snell of Fillbun, Okla. Mrs. Snell was one of the founders of the United Brethren church of her community and an earnest worker in its behalf. Since this church disbanded she has classed herself as Methodist. Surviving Mrs. Snell are two sons, Rev. O. S. Snell of Stillwell, Okla., and O. A. Snell of Galesburg; two grandchildren, Gerald and Murel Snell of Galesburg. Funeral services were held at Galesburg Sunday afternoon. Burial was in the Hopewell cemetery west of New Windsor.
