He lived in Tucson until entering the Army in World War II. He was stationed in Germany. After the war and more education he taught school in Germany and Turkey. He later made his home in California until 2004 when he decided to move to Texas to be near relatives. Eugene loved dogs, horses, and raising flowers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Mary Jane Cairns, her husband Bob and their son Clive Cairns.
Survivors are cousins Lillie Fay Hopkins, Mary Lou Garrett, Cathy Felps and other relatives.
A memorial is planned at a later date.
