Obituary Gonzales Inquirer Feb. 4, 1888
Old Alex Duncan, the one-legged negro boot black that has been one of the familiar objects of the town for many years, died last Thursday evening. Whenever the boys wanted a little fun old Alex was the one sought, and was made the butt of many severe and practical jokes, after which he was always ready to be reconciled by a drink. May old fellow's ashes Rest In Peace.
