Mrs. Mary Christine Banks Britt, 87 of Blackshear, passed away Wednesday evening, January 28, 2015, at her son’s residenc.

Born in Blackshear, GA on June 19, 1927, she had lived in many cities over the years while her late husband served in the US Navy. Mrs. Britt returned to Pierce County in the late ‘60’s and worked for United Egg from which she later retired. She attended Emmanuel Baptist Church and will be remembered as a good-hearted woman with a love for children who helped rear not only her own children but other family members as well.

She was a daughter of the late Marvin Clinton & Sylvia Gertrude Batten Banks. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Allen Maurice Britt.

Survivors include four daughters, Wanda Davis of Blackshear, Wilda (Monnie) Carden of Barnwell, SC, Linda (Pogie) Herrin of Blackshear, and Donna (Andy) Driggers of Brunswick; three sons, Wayne Britt of Alpharetta, GA, Warren (Robin) Britt of Waycross, and Wade (Amy) Britt of Lake Butler, FL; two sisters, Pauline Kimbrell and Latrell Lewis both of Waycross; two brothers, Thomas (Fosteen) Banks of Waycross and Wilton (Evelyn) Banks of Blackshear; 18 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews & other relatives.

Memorials may be made to the Okefenokee Humane Society, 1501 Blackwell Street, Waycross, GA 31501 or to Hospice Satilla, 808 Evergreen Way, Waycross, GA 31501.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

A memorial service for Mrs. Britt will be held Tuesday morning, February 3, 2015 at 11:00 o’clock at the Pearson-Dial Chapel.
