My uncle was born on December 8,1919,to the late Robert Jefferson Otting,Sr.,and Annie Mae Riggins Otting. His brothers included: Elbert who passed away in 1984, Robert Jefferson Otting,Jr.,who passed away in 1992, and John Willis Ray Otting,Sr.,who passed away in 2006,and also Roy D. Otting. His sisters include: the late Rosetta Otting Mathews who passed away in 2000, Annie L. and June Otting,and Sadie Otting Ledbetter.
My uncle "Edward",as I called him, left behind a wife Rovene A. Boatner Otting,who passed away in 2002. Their children now include: two daughters: Martha Ann and Carl Barber,and Barbara Jean Bray, all of Parker City, Indiana. three sons: Jack E. and Brenda Otting Jr. of Douglasville,Georgia, John L. and Peggy Otting, and Joseph and Angie Otting of Rome, Georgia. Uncle Edward is now survived also by his 13 grandchildren,23 great-grandchildren,and a few great-great-grandchildren.
Uncle Edward served in the US Army during WWII.
My uncle passed away in an Indiana hospital while visiting his daughter. Talley Brothers Funeral Home was in charged of the funeral arrangements in Rome,Georgia. He was buried in the New Bethel Cemetery in Silver Creek,Georgia.
Uncle Edward has greatly been missed.
