Mr. Strait was killed by lightning that same year and she returned to her family home.
On July 16, 1889, she married Benjamin Franklin Myers, who on August 8, 1931 preceded her in death. From 1889 to 1901 Mr. and Mrs. Myers lived near Corning and four of their five children: Mrs. Florence Wolf of Cedar Rapids: Mrs. Ada Jolley of Des Moines and Mrs. Helen Heminberger of Adel and William of Boonville were born. In 1901 the family moved to their family farm one mile east of Dexter where their youngest child, Mrs. Lenore Sulgrove of Dexter was born. The five children, as well as 10 grandchildren and two great grandchildren survive. Mrs. F. She was a member of the Methodist Church and has taken an active part in all the work of the church in her many years in Dexter. Her and her husband were always active in all local charitable works, and in these she continued after his death. During the first years after Mr. Myers death, Mrs. Myers spend much time in California where she made many friends. In recent years her health has been such that she remained in Dexter, where she and Mrs. Sulgrove have made their home. Although ill she remained active and interested in all her friends and in the D. T. Club of which she was a member. Some months past her health became so seriously impaired that she required hospital care, and her passing now came as a release of months of illness.
The funeral service was held Sunday, November 23rd from her home and the Dexter Methodist Church. In charge of her service was her Pastor, assisted by former Pastor Neal J. Clemmer. Six grandsons were casket bearers, Billy Myers, Jimmy Myers, Wallace Heminberger, Donald Willett, Bruce Myers, and Jay Jolley. Mrs. Lewis Web rendered two vocal solos. That which was mortal was tenderly laid to rest in the Dexter Cemetery. "A Mother of Isreal" has been taken from us. After a long days work she has earned her rest and now we live in the afterglow of a beautiful life.
