Michael Ray Unk, 66 of Union passed away Thursday, July 23, 2015 in St. Louis.

Mr. Unk, son of the late Steven Unk and wife Mary nee Mueller was born November 22, 1948 in Washington.

On August 20, 1983 he was united in marriage to Nona in Union.

He work as a Technician for Southwestern Bell / ATT&T for 30 plus years until his retirement.

Michael was born with a serious heart condition. At 6 years old he had major heart surgery. On September 1, 1992 he was the recipient of a successful heart transplant.

He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and dear friend.

Mr. Unk was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Kenneth Unk and David Unk.

He is survived by his wife Nona Unk of Union; one son, Dearl Smith of Union; two daughters, Shannon Smith and fiancé Doug Baker of Union and Nicole Unk Wallis and husband Christopher of Union; one brother, Steven Unk and wife Mary of Texas; three sisters, Judy Kempker and husband Alvin of Jefferson City, Carol Kahn of Germany and Ruth Accardi of St. Louis; four grandchildren, Haley, Dylan, Heidi and Hannah; nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and many friends.
