Born Jan. 26, 1920, in Clayton Township Adams County, he was a son of John and Agnes Marie Oetting Flesner.
He was baptized Feb. 1, 1920, by the late Rev. J. Matzat and confirmed June 3, 1934, by the late Rev. Karl Krotke. His confirmation verse was "Be thou faithful unto death and I will give thee a crown of life," Rev: 2-10.
On June 14, 1942, Harry was united in marriage to Lucille "Lou" Aden in St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bowen, by the late Rev. J.R. Westphal. She survives. Harry and Lucille celebrated their 70th anniversary on June 14, 2012.
A former member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Golden, Harry was currently a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Quincy. He was very active in church at Holy Cross serving on many committees, teaching Sunday school and serving as building chairman on the construction of the church in 1951.
Mr. Flesner farmed for many years in Clayton Township and also worked as a self-employed electrician.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille; three sons, Mark Flesner (Becky) of Oskaloosa, Iowa, John Flesner (Lynn) of Loraine, and James P. Flesner of St. Louis; a daughter, Judith Ann Driscoll (Mike) of St. Louis; 11 grandchildren, Patrick Driscoll, Kathleen Engelke (Doug), Marshina Stephen (Adam), Jessica Libanan (Mark), Dane Flesner, Hannah Flesner, Chris Emmons (Shelly), Andrea Carlson (David), Jamie Bayes (Matt), Darrell Flesner (Jodi) and Adam Flesner; 13 great-grandchildren, a sister, Irene D. Cookson of Quincy, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Mr. Flesner was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Janet Lou Flesner; three brothers, Raymond Flesner in infancy, Elmer Flesner and Edward Flesner; six sisters, Helen Meints, Emma Meyer, Emily White, Mollie Swope, Edna Bienhoff and Adele Aden; a daughter-in-law, Julie Flesner; and a granddaughter, Michelle.
SERVICES: 11 a.m. Saturday in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Marlin Rempfer conducting. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Golden Community City Cemetery in Golden.
VISITATION: 10 a.m. Saturday until time of services in the funeral home.
MEMORIALS: American SIDS Institute, St. James Lutheran Church, or Blessing Foundation for Hospice.
