Born about 1752 in Pennsylvania? maybe Virginia Colony; died in Nelson CO, KY.
Known by some genealogists as "Fox Run" James for his prominent role in the formation of the Fox Run Baptist Church was also a son of Henry and Jemima (Van Nieuwkerck ~ Newkirk) Hoagland.
1781 Jefferson County Court Minute Book ~~ His mother's name is on it too.

Rachel born about 1774. She married William Robbins December 31, 1793 in Shelby County, Kentucky and died after 1793.
Aaron born between 1775 and 1780, and died about 1841 in Scott CO, IN. He married Elizabeth Monroe. ????
Henry born about 1776 in Pennsylvania, and died between 1850 and 1860 in Scott CO, IN.
Elizabeth born about 1777, and died after 1795. She married Thomas Horton August 05, 1795 in Shelby County, Kentucky.
Archibald born about 1780, and died 26 Nov 1846. He married Elizabeth Monroe November 11, 1802 in Shelby County, Kentucky.
Sarah born about 1786 in KY, and died about 1850 in Scott CO, IN. She married Felix Monroe November 11, 1802 in Kentucky; born October 22, 1783.

While Henry named his eldest son James, and while two other brothers (Richard and John) did the same, it is not thought that they were old enough to have earned the rank of Ensign by 1774.
Thus, James the son of Henry (Fox Run James) did not acquire the rank of Ensign until 1785 and was unlikely to have been a captain in 1782.

Note: This is not the original burial site. Houghland Hill cemetery is created to note other Hoagland reinterments because the Taylorsville reservoir is created. The dam is located on the Salt River. Not all Hoaglands, their lands now lie beneath the water.

Gravesite Details

There may be exfoliated, sunken, buried, field stones, as grave markers, for these early Dutch/English congregation of colonists. The majority of the deceased were buried in unmarked graves.
