OBITUARY:
Indiana Evening Gazette, Saturday, 1 May 1948, pg 2 col 8:
Mr. J. F. DeHaven, 81, of Home R. D. 1, died this morning at 1 o'clock at his late home in Rayne Twp. The deceased was born Oct. 18, 1866, in Canoe Twp, Indiana County, the son of Absolem and Harriet Fetterman DeHaven.
He spent his early life in Canoe Twp., and during his lifetime his occupation was farming. He was a resident of this community for 45 years. Mr. Dehaven was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church of Indiana.
The following survive: wife Mary Kelley Walker DeHaven; sons Milton, Home; sons Cline and Paul, Home; Glenn, Indiana; Clyde Walker, Beaver; daughters, Mrs. Merle Grace McQuiston, Indiana; Miss Blanche DeHaven at home; Mrs. Fred Mary Belle Kirk, Homer City; Mrs. Clarence Bertha Kring, Connellsville; Mrs. Quinley Ruth Griffith, Livermor; 32 grandchildren, and 27 great grandchildren.
Mr. DeHaven had previously married Elizabeth Pierce who is deceased.
Funeral services will be held from the Evangelical United Brethren Church, Indiana, Monday, May 3 at 2:00 PM (DST) in charge of his pastor, Rev. I. L. Peterson. Interment will take place in Grove Chapel Cemetery. Friends will be received in his late home after 7 o'clock this evening and may also pay their respect at the Church one hour prior to the service.
